Story's Christmas Gift: Nutcracker Doll
I am so not a timely uploader. Here's Story's handmade Christmas gift this year--a nutcracker doll from Stitched in Time. It was so fun to hand sew something! I'm getting used to the discomfort of things not turning out perfectly--that hand-sewn wonky-ness.
I decided to add a joint on the legs so that it could sit on a shelf more easily. The pattern was easy to follow, but the arms and legs were a tad bit difficult to sew shut, and I was unhappy with the hair (more my own issue). The body fabric was a Japanese fat quarter I received with an etsy book order last year. I barely had enough to make this doll, but I made it work. I knew I'd been saving it for something! The little rick rack on the skirt hem used to be Wes's Gramie's, so that's lovely.
It was cool to make Story her first doll--sort of Laura Ingalls Wilder-like!
