The essence of it - a birthday cake for a 95 year old
Yesterday it was my mother-in-law's birthday. In fact it was her 95th birthday. It did not go without its hiccups. Everything had been prepared, I had baked the cake, a tart, scones etc, the house shone with flowers and preparations, the day was filled with sunshine and blue skies, the guests arrived laden with gifts, little girls in pink came bearing home-made gifts and all was well until the poor birthday girl felt ill and had to leave early. I am happy to report that she is feeling much better today.
My mother in law is a well-known and much awarded botanical artist.
