Suspended

I know it isn't perfectly apt for this image but I do love this wonderful poem by Denise Levertov. It is a hot day today and Chloe is coming to stay for the week-end. This is for all of you who love reading. Have a very fine Friday wherever you are and whatever time it is.

 

Suspended

 

I had grasped God's garment in the void

But my hand slipped

On the rich silk of it.

The 'everlasting arms' my sister loved to remember

Must have upheld my leaden weight

From falling, even so,

For though I claw at empty air and feel

Nothing, no embrace,

I have not plummeted.
