Great grey shrike (Lanius excubitor), southern Fuerteventura, Canary Islands

Curiously, it is the more northern great grey shrike that replaces the Iberian grey shrike of southwestern Europe in the Canary Islands and Morocco. However Canary Island birds are of an endemic subspecies of great grey, L. e. koenigi, with a more pronounced supercilium and darker underparts (thanks to Engilis Photos for pointing this out).
