Bury St Edmunds

The norman gate, built in the mid-twelfth century as an entrance to the church of the abbey of St Edmundsbury (of which hardly anything remains today). Beyond it the late twentieth-century tower of the current cathedral, created from the church of St James from 1914 onwards.
