She had created a world that wasn't real; she knew that.

"And yet when she was in it, she felt loved and complete in some strange way. Here she was, eighteen years old, and as Lilly said, she kept herself closed off from young men her age who could disappoint because they were real and not a romantic fantasy." - A Flickering Light by Jane Kirkpatrick

I hardly ever write down quotes from books, but this one I did, and a few other ones from the story as well. I put them in the place I come back to again and again when I am feeling totally lost and in disrepair. This quote struck a chord for a few different reasons. And when something strikes a chord it usually means truth is slapping me across the face. So I wanted to remember it. And I also wanted to remember this song because it's the opposite kind of love of which the quote speaks and that's the love I need; not a romantic fantasy.

And I cannot hold it in and remain composed

Love's taken over me

And so I propose the letting myself go

I am letting myself go

you are my joy
