Influences and Inspiration
This page sums up where I find my inspiration from and how I feel about jewellery.
Julia Beausch (top left) - I have worked for Julia for four years. She owns a jewellery and silversmithing workshop and gallery in Woodstock where she designs and makes all of her jewellery within the shop. From day one Julia has trusted me with not only her own materials for shop jewellery but also the materials of customers. she has taught me almost everything I know about jewellery and has always been amazed by how quickly I pick up a new skill or technique.
Imogen Belfield - I saw Imogen Belfields work for the first time at the IJL trade fair, which I visit every year with Julia, and was instantly drawn to her work. Her designs have changed the way I see jewellery. Her creations are not simply and understated but the complete opposite which would make anybody look twice! I own one of her smaller rings. I think its fascinating how when I wear the ring it makes me feel more powerful and strong. I hope someday to be able to design and make jewellery which creates a reaction the way hers does.
I love the quote i read on the cartier website. I feel i can relate to it. Gemstones play a huge part in the designs of the jewellery which I currently make for my Christmas shows and at work simply because of the beauty and how no one can resist a beautiful gemstone.
