Axe Man

One of the lumberjacks in the Grouse Mountain Lumberjack Show gets ready to fling an axe.

The Lumberjack Show takes place once a day at the top of Grouse Mountain, with hundreds of visitors from around the world stopping to watch.

Grouse Mountain sits in the North Shore Mountains, which, as their name suggests, sit on the shore north of Vancouver. It is a big tourist attraction, with a cable car carrying passengers to the observatory at 3,700ft.

At the summit there are numerous attractions, not the least of which is the view down on the city of Vancouver itself. There is also a pair of Grizzly Bears, lumberjack shows, and numerous other activities.

For those more energetic people – I wasn’t among them – you can climb up the Grouse Grind instead of taking the cable car up to the top and time yourself while doing it. People were doing it in little more than half-an-hour while we were there, which was pretty impressive.
