Precise Models - Apollo Lunar Module

Here's a surprise find at the Canadian Aviation & Space Museum in Ottawa. In the late 1960s, Grumman Aerospace Corporation, designer and builder of the Apollo Lunar Module (LM), contracted Precise Models Inc. to produce scale models of the full scale thing. Precise made thousands of them, which Grumman gave to astronauts, politicians, VIPs and their many subcontractors. This model was displayed with the upper leg component of the LM, manufactured by Heroux Machine Parts Limited in Longueuil, Quebec. I assume this was one of the models given to Heroux. Interestingly, the placard for this display indicated the maker of the model was "unknown"! The museum has been dutifully informed by this know-it-all! I intend, one of these days, to build my last remaining 1/48th scale Revell LM to resemble the Precise model, as they are about the same vintage and both depict early engineering mock-ups of the LM as opposed to the actual flight versions that landed on the Moon. www.precisemodelsllc.com/copy-of-precise-models-inc
