Fitts Law

Touch screens and track pads use Fitts’ law to calculate the time required to move to a target is a function of the target size and distance to the target. This law of design is applicable in constraining the user within barriers to scroll and cursor movement. On a touch screen you have to move the fingers within a constrained border to control applications.
