Royal Columns

Ionic columns on the Royal Crescent

The Royal Crescent, built 1767-74, designed by John Wood, the Younger (1728-82).

Originally 30 terraced townhouses, 18 have been converted into apartment buildings, 1 is a hotel, and one is the No. 1 Royal Crescent museum.

The uniform façade of the crescent was designed by Wood, but the houses behind were all designed by the each owners' own architects.
