Project 1
The picture on the bottom left hand side can see the difference in the level of light the person is exposed on during the two divisions of the container. The person is exposed to way more light on the left division compared to the right.
The photo on the top left hand side allows you to see the little door/ entry where the person would enter to the other division of the box.
The photos on the right allows you to see how dark it actually is on once you are in the division on the right, it gives you a little taste of how it will be like to walk or be inside.
*This was my first proper project, also my favourite project, during my university course. We were told to ‘define space’ within a limited area and only using 7 planes. The area was based on a typical 20ft. container, its dimensions being (6.06m x 2.44m x 2.59m).
My aim of this assignment was to provide a spatial and light experience to the person walking within. The three planes that are at different angles allow it was aimed to allow the person to experience the change in levels of light he is exposed to as he progresses with his journey.#
The person should be entering from the open area, where he is exposed to high levels of light. He/ she may choose to go under or over the three planes. By the end of this half of the journey, there will be a small entrance where he is able to enter the other half of the container. In the second part of his journey, he will be exposed to low levels of lights throughout. However, there will be a strip of light at the end of his journey, as you can see the little slit on the picture. This is able to provide enough light for the person to see where he is going and at the same time have a very special spatial and light experience throughout his journey.*
