Williford works long hours on the flight deck directing aircraft in support of Exercise Tandem Thrust 2003. Essex is operating off the coast of Guam as a part of the Expeditionary Strike Group-FDNF. The Essex is forward deployed to Sasebo, Japan, as a part of the Navyís only permanently forward deployed amphibious force.
