Remember the seals
My refrigerator has been making some strange noises. I downloaded the
manual which led me to the ice maker. People in the southwest normally
can't use a ice maker without a reverse osmosis filter in front of it.
I quickly disabled the ice maker which took care of part of the
problem. As I flipped through the manual I came across a energy
efficiency tip that is just pure gold. "Every month clean the door
seals". It never even occurred to me that the door seals could get
dirty causing the door to not close tightly. Upon looking at my seals
I found a embarrassing pile of crumbs in the upper seals of both the
refrigerator and freezer door. I'll break out the kill-o-watt again
and see how the power draw looks.
