We took a pit stop and did some online browsing to find nearby restaurants. One seemed nearby, so we headed for that. With supreme irony, it turned out that where we'd stopped was on the corner of Rue Mèrciere, which is a street full of restaurants. We liked the looked of the eponymous Le Mèrciere and sat at a table. We waited and waited and waited, and then a waiter came over to us and quite rudely told us that lunch service was finished. A group of French diners beside us took pity and told us we'd failed to observe etiquette by not waiting to be seated. So we moved on to another place a few doors further along.
