Scales of Ice

This is an old image from winter of last year. It is a stacked image of river rocks covered in ice. What is special about this is that these river rocks are next to a waterfall and have formed scales of ice on them due to the water spray freezing on contact with the rocks. This caused the rocks to form these "scales" of ice on them making them look like something analogous to fish scales. These were really tricky to photograph properly, and I am sure that with more time I could have come up with a better composition. That said, I was literally standing in a torrent of misty water coming off of a waterfall and it was so cold that the water was freezing on contact... so I didn't stay for long!
