EMI BTR-2 reel to reel
This is an EMI BTR-2 used in recording studios and broadcast, most famously used in the BBC and EMI's Abbey road studios from 1952 onwards. The recorder consists of large valve powered modules located inside the recorder, a modular tape deck and modular front panel interconnected by a large wireing loom. The BBC kept on useing these machines well into the 80's but modified the electronics to transistor stereo which sadly had its drawbacks.
I am always looking to purchase these machines if anyone knows of one for sale :-)
a special thank you to flikr member Fixerbob for donating this wonderful machine.
