Mexico City - Where Victims of the Inquisition Were Burned Alive

"In front of this place was the quemadero (execution fire) of the Inquisition of 1596 to 1771."

Sign in front of the former Convent of San Diego. Just around the corner from the Jose Marti statue and across from the Alameda Central. The Inquisition headquarters (Palace of the Inquisition) still stands near Plaza Santo Domingo and is now a medical school and museum.
