WNBR Mexico City - It's Saturday! No Need to Dress Up for Church!

Cyclists in various stages of undress circling the Zocalo in front of the Metropolitan Cathedral, with images of the Pope on the wall. Not quite "pope mooning" but close enough.

As in 2010, the Zocalo was occupied by the tents of the electrical workers union SME, preventing the traditional regrouping / rest stop for the riders in the plaza. Due to street closures, the taxi left me off 4 blocks away and I needed to rush on foot to see the last 2 laps before the cyclists headed off for Plaza Rio de Janeiro. I had "scouted out" the entire route of the bike ride by Turibus and on foot a few days earlier, but nothing remains the same in Mexico City two days in a row.
