The Spectacle
The Spectacle is a common species over most of the UK. It gets its name from the raised tufts of haie at the front of the Thorax, which when looked at head on, resemble a pair of spectacles.
The similar Dark Spectacle is a far more scarce species. It is browner coloured, and has a darker shading to the inner forewing beyond the first cross line.
