Albatross Season

Sure signs of the winter season in the tropical central Pacific are rising surf on the north shore and the return of Laysan albatross (Phoebastria immutabilis) to the breeding colonies. After months at sea and gliding for thousands of miles, these two early arrivals look to establish, or reestablish, a monogamous pair bond.
