The "Jimbocho Book Festival" is a major annual autumn event in Jimbocho—known as the "City of Books"—where the entire neighborhood comes alive, offering visitors the chance to discover new books while strolling through the area. The festival centers on direct sales events hosted by publishers and bookstores.

 

• Venues: Kanda Suzuran-dori Street, Sakura-dori Street, and the open plaza at the Jimbocho Mitsui Building.

• Concurrent events: Tokyo’s famous Kanda Used Book Festival and the Open-Air Bargain Market.

• Major Direct Sales by Publishers & Bookstores: Featuring wagon sales and special-price offers unique to Jimbocho, hosted by various publishing houses and bookstores.

• Children's Book Plaza: Held at the Jimbocho Mitsui Building open plaza, this area features wagon sales of picture books and children's literature, a paper-making workshop by Shueisha, a "World History Detective Conan" sticker rally by Shogakukan, and storytelling sessions on a special stage.

• Stage Events: Performances include marching bands, wind instrument concerts, Japanese taiko drumming, and comedy shows.

• About the Spring Event: A special "Spring Jimbocho Book Festival"—the first of its kind—was held in April 2026.
