I have committed my life to the defense of life in the sea

The ocean is life and I have committed my life to the defense of life in the sea and every whale saved, every seal, every turtle, every shark, every fish saved is a triumph.

 

I have always understood that there is nothing easy about challenging the forces intent upon destroying our oceans. Lawsuits and threats, media attacks, personal attacks are always the prices to be paid for intervention. Our opponents are powerful, economically and politically, and they play dirty, and that is to be expected.

 

Every Sea Shepherd activist is a drop of water in an ocean of hope. But what is an ocean? It is a multitude of drops. I see a flood of passion, a tsunami of imagination and an up-swelling of hope.

 

I have seen all that has been accomplished over the years in conservation and animal rights and this gives me great hope for all that we need to and will accomplish in the future.

 

We need not concern ourselves with nay-sayers, with critics, with hate, or with obstacles. We have the power to change the world, each and every one of us and we will save the world from ourselves – of that I am confident.
