dream to remember

lake merritt, oakland, ca. (Superior Court of California County of Alameda in the distance)

i got (GAS) a deal on a slightly damaged carl zeiss hasselblad 120mm lens. i had a nikon/hasselblad adapter already and i don't shot film often, so i married it to my beater nikon d2x. this is a magical union.

the good-bad-ugly are very close focusing, thin dof, constant f/4 aperture,a bit of bulk, and tight frame. at first i thought this lens wasn't so sharp wide open, but soon realized i have bad focusing habits.

i hate saying, but, this is a wonderful lens. it felt like parking a ferrari at a swap meet when i started shooting the streets with it, now it's just another killer combo.

wonder how is works on actual hasselblad camera?

the person pictured was very gracious allowing me shoot and angle around behind during his moment. he knew i was there (d2x) but kept his gaze. i didn't see the string on his finger until later and never thought these pictures would look like they do.

big surprise.
