USS Trigger(SS 237) was a Gato Class Submarine lost in Combat in the East China Sea on March-28th-1945 on her twelfth War Patrol.Her keel was laid down on February 1st-1941 at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard,She was launched on October-22-1941,sponsored by Mrs Walter N Vernou and was commissioned January-31st-1942.During her twelfth patrols,Trigger Sank 18 ships,totaling 86,552 tons tied with Seawolf and rasher for confirmed sinkings.One of her naval highlights was Imperial Japanese Navy Okikaze(Offshore wind) destroyer.Trigger received 11 battle Stars for WW2 Service and the Presidential Unit Citation for her fifth,Sixth and Seventh war patrols.This plaque is at the Independence Seaport Museum.I photographed it on August-14th-2021.
