Exposed roots entwine on the forest floor of Cape Flattery, the northwesternmost point of the contiguous United States.
The cape is within the Makah Reservation, part of the homeland of the Makah Tribe who’s traditional homeland is throughout the northwestern tip of Washington State.
The Makah call themselves "qʷidiččaʔa·tx̌", wich loosely translates to "people who live by the rocks and seagulls".
