After over 30 years in business, my wife and I retired from the rat race in 2007. We still are actively involved in passive investments, but the pace is more relaxed. We travel a lot now in a 40' 5th Wheel. Enjoying the freedom to stay or go as the wind blows us.
During the early years, I owned a small publishing company with three weekly newspapers.I learned a lot about photography on the fly out of necessity. Back then we didn't have digital, and computers were monstrous things that filled up large rooms. As sometimes happens, circumstances made radical changes to my life and I sold my interests in the publishing company.
Once away from the need to photograph anything, I sort of drifted away from it. For many, many, years my shooting was confined to a point and shoot. Then not quite two years ago our youngest granddaughter was born, and the itch to record her life, grew to be and obsession to learn all things digital. I'll admit that the journey was rocky. Though the basics were still the same, it was hard to shift from hands on in the darkroom, to all the strange things going on inside my computer. Finally though, I'm making progress, things are starting to click.
