I . tin . er . ant

Back in the late 90's, because of my proclivity for going walkabout around NY, I was tagged as being "Itinerant in NY" by my friend the uber-talented Lissa, who can condense a whole world into a memorable phrase. The moniker stuck.

I am an iconoclast in that I dont like to Photoshop my images. I prefer to try to get it right in the camera first.

Plus, I hardly know how to use Photoshop. :)

The cameras are the Fuji 4900z (much loved, now deceased but the images live on), 6800z, Fuji s602z (my favorite), Fuji s9000 (sold), Nikon D50 (an absolutely brilliant little camera, gave it to a deserving young photographer), D200 (nice camera, returned it after a week) and now my primary camera is the Fuji s5 Pro.

Thanks to george for gifting me with a flickr pro account, hooking me onto what a friend calls "Internet nicotine, far far more addictive than crack"... :)

eDOM is right on target. see for yourself. it's all about people and cities and things that go bump in the night. it's about cops and robbers and men lying face-down in the street with their hands behind their heads and fire engines and baristas and things that look delicious and a blonde on her cell phone seated across the table from a man reading a book: is he even on this planet? if he had been, he wouldn't have been reading, but looking to his left at the Other Beautiful Blonde, swinging her way on by. urban mania. urban insanity. it's about a woman in the city smiling right into the lens as she eats up the sidewalk, and a woman on the bus in cool yellow kicks and apple stores in SoHo and SF and magic and times square. it's about the missing towers and how-sweet-it-is brooklyn and the beautiful children of a friend and someone named G who wears green glasses and grins. it's about YRB | NYC, borders and starbux. it's about vision. it's about Going Out.

Joe is Johnny On the Spot for shots in the City. For a homebody that doesn't get out as much as he should, I love this photostream. He is deserving of a wider audience because his view of the world is fun to watch. The sheer randomness of the things he sees in a day will may you want to go outside and look around.
