Hello.
A little bit about me and my style of photography
Displaced San Franciscan, I am married with 2 really talented and gifted girls, (you will see them in my photostream)
I like my cameras, but I like my filters more. I like the odd, novel and quirky. I will take 2 dozen shots of a butterfly and throw out 23 of them. I will also take 2 dozen shots of a cupcake and keep all 24 of them. Go figure. I will be better at photography tomorrow. virtually everything I post is straight out of the camera and only cropped.
I am not here to collect a wow for a mediocre shot or bravos or invites or a fave for the random lucky shot where the lighting was perfect, by no manipulation of my own.
I am here because I learn something by looking at your photos,See, I want to learn how to manipulate. I see affects and angles, lighting tricks, play with shadows, composition idea, aperture and exposure ideas and I like the support and encouragement of my contacts that look at everything I post and laugh with me because they want to know me better!
I am not a big fan of Photoshop, I am however a big fan of good photography by it's own right TTL skills!
.....That's what makes photography so amazing , what a dichotomy it is also it's one failing.
Photoshop has made professionals of computer savvy mediocre point and shoot picture takers.
What makes a photographer....?
......IT IS SKILL AND SIGHT .....the eye to see how to apply that DOF or adjust the white balance.
If you know how many stops the palm of your hand is from middle gray or you long for the next Sunny 16, and have dared to carry more filters than lenses in your bags.... then I bow to you!
ROCK ON FRIENDS!
-Peace!
WHAT IS INTUITIVE PAINTING?
INTUITIVE PAINTING is painting what is inside you, at that moment, what has meaning for you, what feelings or sensations are happening when you pick up the brush.
Sometimes we are not even aware of what we are feeling.
How many times during the day does someone ask you, “How are you”?, and we answer with “fine!”- without even thinking about it. Maybe we are having a terrible day, maybe our life is just about falling apart and we are as far from fine as we have ever been but it was just easier to answer with “fine!” because we did not want to explain it.
The canvas in front of you is a safe place to answer the question, How Are You?, truthfully and not having to worry about having to explain it. It is about being authentic with yourself with paint and letting the brush move across the paper. It is not about technique, being precise or being a “good artist”. Anyone can do it, young or old or in between – no art experience necessary.
