I love the medium of glass, and am fascinated by the way it transforms into different shapes and colors by the alchemical process of heat.

I use recycled glass pieces that people give me, that have lost their practical use over time, becoming scratch or broken. What would normally be tossed onto the scrapheap, is transformed by heat into something completely different, the shape determined by the intrinsic qualities of the original piece. I have no idea how each shape will turn out. I view the piece through a small hole in my kiln and when I see it turn a molten red colour I turn off the kiln and cross my fingures
