I go on faving sprees.
Someone commented on my collection of favorites that they are mostly powerful pictures of women. I agree with this assessment. I respond to women more so than I do to men. Also, I respond to pictures of people more so than I do to pictures of landscapes or objects (this is in spite of the fact that most of my pictures these days are landscapes and architecture). I didn't set out to fave mostly pictures of women it just worked out that way. I treat faves as gestures in that I don't spend a lot of time looking at an individual image. I go by gut feel and if I respond to an image I fave it. My favorites are basically pictures I wish I had taken. Also, faving other peoples pictures is a way for me to explore the concept of beauty. I find that it covers a lot of territory. I believe that I have seen more and better pictures here on Flickr than I have seen in any gallery. So, if I fave one of your pictures it is because it captured me in some way, I responded to it, I think it represents the concept of beauty, and It is a picture that I wish I had taken myself.
I am 72 years old. I never thought I would get this far.

Have you had no picture ideas for quite some time? Take pictures about not being able to make pictures:
Paraphrased from Lauren Rabbit (Lauren Simonutti). www.flickr.com/photos/laurensimonutti/4757417417/in/datep...
"I've come to realize that I do my best work when I'm either looking for something else, or I'm not looking for anything at all. The best way to find what really interests me is to go out with my mind as empty as possible, and allow the pictures to present themselves when and where they will."
Mark Citret.
"I don't have anything to say. I take photographs to find out how things will look when they are photographed."
Garry Winogrand.
"The pictures that need to be taken will come to you if you let them. Searching for them tends to drive them away. (This is what Picasso was talkin about when he said "I do not seek. I find")" ... David Vestal
"If you make pictures, don't speak, don't write, don't analyze yourself and don't answer any questions." - Robert Doisneau

I love your serie self portraits !
If you stumble on the selfportrait-series of Fred Roessler, you have discovered a real treasure of the FLICKR-community. If you stumble on the selfportrait-series of Fred Roessler, you have discovered a real treasure of the FLICKR-community. At first I stumbled on his selfportrait with a tea cozy - and as I read in the comments: "Never trust a man who, when left alone in a room with a tea cozy, does not try it on, at least once..." - then I realized that the FLICKR-community felt challenged, to add comments as creative as the daily uploaded pics. Viewing his tricky composition "Portable energy source" (considering seriously all the ingenious inventions so many physicians and nobel-prize winners made) then I thought: that must be GOD, shot just in the moment as he spoke: "It shall become light!" Cleverly someone comments: "Remind me to call you the next time my cell phone needs charging!" Fred, giving us our daily ideas to gain cheap energy! Reading the feedbacks to his red basket hat we find the alternative title "samurai warrior". The portrait with a garden tool is commented with the Shakespearesque question "trimming beard or splicing nose?" The pic (Head-)"PRESSURE" presents the practical advice: "Press it 'til wisdom comes out!" If someone only whispers "this is fabulous" Fred creeps with ears big as an elephant into your screen (though I am forced to admit: now we need another nose-proportion, maybe we should ask some elephants). My cat (always by my side and commenting the FLICKR-pool) loves instantly the one (title: Vegetation) with the moustache (simply made out of wooden branch). As someone asked him: "How did you get these ideas?" - he answered: "Desperation for a 365 upload and not much time..." I think he didn't tell us all the background for his decisions and conceptions :-)
