Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, I am of Scottish / English ancestry. I live approximately 2 km from the north shore of Lake Ontario which provides me easy access to one of North America's great migration routes.

Since the earliest age at our summer cottage, I learned to love nature, and forged a life long bond with the natural world by spending time in the woods, swamps, marshes and meadowlands as a young, inquisitive kid.
