Ironworkers could be seen by the dozen, hard at work on the third cycle of six pontoons under construction at the Aberdeen casting basin. Once complete, these pontoons will be floated out and towed to Lake Washington, where they will form the foundation for the new SR 520 floating bridge.
Construction crews are underway on the third cycle of SR 520 bridge pontoons in Aberdeen. In this cycle, crews will build six total pontoons:
• Four longitudinal pontoons (360 ft. x 75 ft. x 29 ft.)
• Two supplemental stability pontoons (98 ft. x 60 ft. x 28 ft.)
