I completely enjoyed every moment in the process of making this sculpture, from my initial meeting with the Iford family, collectively visualizing the design, and finally being awarded the commission.

The sculptures design was based on a photograph from 1904 showing Mr Peto reading some papers while sat on the historic curved stone seat of Iford Manor’s great terrace.

Harold Peto was one of England’s foremost Edwardian garden designers. He lived at Iford Manor from 1899 to his death in 1933.

During this time he realized and developed his vision for the House, its gardens and the estate.

I feel honored to have been entrusted with the task of bringing Mr Peto’s spirit back to Iford, although I suspect he’s always been there.
