Red-tailed Hawk with Rattlesnake prey _DSC0875

Red-tailed Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis) attempting to fly off with a Rattlesnake (Crotalus viridis) prey that was too big for it to get airborne. The rattles on the snake's tail are plainly visible. Image taken on the high prairie of Colorado.
