BURMA_IR_06_KOKO_GYI

What was so precious about this moment, was after I did his portrait he asked if he could I would take one of him with his dog. When that dog was in his arms I watched him change and that dog went from being the friendly mop head with four legs that it had been for the whole shoot to being so protective of him while Ko Ko Gyi was holding him that it was a wise idea to count your fingers. or both dog and man there was no one else in the room.

This is an infra red portrait of the Burmese dissident Ko Ko Gyi. He and another dissident, Min Ko Naing were the two people most responsible for convincing Aung San Suu Kyi to become the leader of the National League for Democracy. He spent almost 20 years in prison for his beliefs.

The image was captured by a Nikon D-800 camera modified for infrared. Super Enhanced color conversion with a 28-300 mm VR II lens using the Nikon electronic file format (.Nef) file was post processed using capture NX 2.0 software, Photoshop CS Nik Color Efex 4.0 and Silver Efex Pro 2.0.
