Swamp Darner - me holding female yesterday!
What a fun adventure dodging thunderstorms at the wetlands yesterday! Over 30 Halloween pennants perching, then I heard this lady Swamp Darner land at eye level as we walked by (they usually perch overhead). She let me put my lens right in her face for about 40 shots, so I decided to try to pick her up (she climbed aboard!). I called to my husband and passed her on to him (see VIDEO) for more shots. Swamp darners are one of our largest dragonflies - longer than 3.5 inches - and she was BIG. @ the wetlands July 1, 2025
