Arrowhead spiketail - foty! (Cordulegaster obliqua)

I spotted this big (3.5" long) spiketail hanging low in weeds as we were walking out along Little River yesterday after the night's rain - a first of the year and rare. I got a date range there for this species in 2018 from 4 sightings: May 20-June17. So this guy was right on schedule! His grayish eyes will turn a pretty blue as he matures. Always exciting to see a spiketail. We finally had to leave him still perching - which I hate to do. A foty Comet darner played with us - zipping around but never perching. North Georgia
