201/366 - 2024

Batemans (National Trust)

Home of Rudyard Kipling.

The July Monthly Project (366/2024 - The Future is Now), I visit Batemans several times a year, so my monthly project this year is to take a photo from the same vantage point every month to show the garden changing over the year.

The July image, taken on a nice sunny Friday morning, the car park was very full, but the garden was surprisingly quiet, although there were a few children following the Jungle Book Trail, there is a bit more green on the lime trees this month and a nice blue sky.

19th July 2024.

On this day.......

1545 - The 'Mary Rose', the pride of Henry VIII's fleet sank in the Solent, with a loss of more than 350 lives.

1588 - The Spanish Armada was sighted off the Cornish coast.

1843 - The first all-metal liner, Isambard Kingdom Brunel's SS Great Britain, was launched in Bristol.
