Egg sac of a Green Lynx Spider (Peucetia, Oxyopidae)
This is an older egg sac of a Green Lynx Spider (Peucetia, Oxyopidae) that has done its work and is now abandoned. If you look close, you can see the exuviae (cast off molts) of the spiderlings near the bottom of the sac. I found this in the same native plant of Bird's Beak (Cordylanthus rigidus, Orobanchaceae) as in my [Previous] photo - though that one still has the spider guarding it. I figure both the strands of webbing and the egg sac are made of spider silk - so Happy Web Webnesday! (San Marcos Pass, 25 September 2018)
