Class 45 at Nunnery carriage sidings, 1982

This is Sheffield's Nunnery carriage sidings, located adjacent to the electrified Woodhead lines to the east of the former Victoria station. In July 1982, Peak no. 45134 stands at the head of empty stock. I took this shot from a Sheffield-Huddersfield dmu during the reversing manoeuvre that was necessary for these trains to reach the Penistone line. An electrification gantry stands devoid of catenary on the left. The large brick building to the right background bears the wording 'Sheffield Corporation Abattoir'.
