Oracle Park across McCovey Cove - Early Morning
Here's Oracle Park, home of the San Francisco Giants, taken shortly after sunrise from the south side of McCovey Cove. You can see the grandstand, the scoreboard, and the walkway with arches along the water. Several of those arches open onto a view of the playing field, and there's no charge for watching a few innings of a game from there. As with some of the other stadiums, it was built new to look old, with a brick façade.
During a game, lots of small craft hang out in this cove, hoping to retrieve a home run. As of today, there have been 107 such "splash homers", but there are also some foul balls that go out. You can see the yellow right field foul pole in the center of the image. The stadium opened in 2000 (flic.kr/p/2kM5BBR) as PacBell Park, with Barry Bonds having hit the most splash homers.
Downtown San Francisco is about a 20-30 minute walk and you can see Salesforce Tower in the background.
