_TM82283-88edit 2

An upload whilst processing a job for a client and deciding on views and angles. This was a challenging elevation to shoot, confined space and field of view, limited clean views of the entire rear elevation of the building with surrounding city blocks casting strong shadows for most of the day. A wider shot further back was maybe better at showing the whole building but this closer in view shows the relationship between the deck access flats and the tower. I like the simple utilitarian feel to this social housing block and it is interesting to see a reinterpretation of the 'deck access' concept of housing. This is the rear elevation, which so often gets forgotten about; cost savings reducing what's left to an after-thought blank white wall. These flats are spacious, well designed, safe, secure and energy efficient providing much needed housing for Govanhill HA. Shot before people have moved in, the building is in pristine condition here, although I feel the shot could maybe benefit from a passing refuse truck or some people moving through the building. Processing this was quite difficult to get the right balance of shadows as the screens and cantilevers produce a lot of shadow, which through layers, gradients and masking I have lifted but tried to keep the tonal white > black range as natural to the eye as possible.
