1987 meldete der Kalligraf, Dichter, Erfinder, Lehrer, Musiker, Drucker, Autor, Holz-Schnitzer, Umweltaktivist William J. Hildebrandt aus Simsbury, Connecticut, ein Patent für ein Schreibgerät an, dessen Namen »Whopperplate-Pen« er sich schützen ließ. Er starb 2013 im Alter von 85 Jahren.
Um Studenten ohne viel Technik zeigen zu können, wie eine Spitzfeder funktioniert ist das Werkzeug von Hildebrandt ideal.
Nach wenigen Bildern im Netz habe ich das Gerät von Hildebrandt nachgebaut.
Es ließe sich immer noch manches verbessern aber nun ist es zunächst auf einem sehr gut Stand. Ganz herzlich danke ich Fedor Gross – einem genossendschaftlich geführten Werkzeugladen in Leipzig – für die tolle Beratung.
