Red is the New Green, Pt. 2 - _TNY_4003

I made yet another visit to the Mjällådalen Nature Reserve sort of near Härnösand, Sweden on the August section of our summer vacation (of 2025). As customary, my son accompanied me and proved to be just as good a beetle spotter as ever.

Here is a rather fast green-footed peacock beetle (Elaphrus riparius) shot at 3:1 magnification.

And in case you're looking at this guy and wondering how anyone would name such an extremely red beetle "green-footed" - it's because this species is normally green (all over - not just the feet) and this happens to be a somewhat rare colour form which I have seen in Mjällådalen on several occasions.
