A Bunch of Tiny Emeralds, Pt. 2 - _TNY_3249S2

The green hairstreak (Callophrys rubi) is a fairly common butterfly in the family Lycaenidae - the gossamer-winged butterflies. Seen on its own, the glittering green scales make it look very beutiful, but it is actually a really effective camouflage as well. You can track them flying over the bilberry shubs and then they suddenly land and the actually quite cool green hue all but disappears in the vegetation.

This particular one is from a May visit to Tyresta National Park in May (of 2023) together with my wife and son and since the butterfly stayed in place, I managed two shots and focus-stacked them into a single image for a little added depth of field.
