Phone Friend, Pt. 4 - _TNY_0825

With April of 2021 being the coldest on record here for the last fifteen years or so, I was positively aching to get out and try the then new camera (purchased in mid-January) out.

In early May I had some spare time and the weather was nice for a change so I headed out to the Paradiset nature reserve to see what I could find. Not much was out and about yet, but then I got a phone call from my wife so stopped to talk to her.

While talking I noticed something moving on a low tree branch and it turned out to be this Polydrusus pilosus weevil! I kept an eye on it while finishing our call before switching lenses to the MP-E65 and then shot this and a couple more of it at 3.3:1 magnification.

This species has no common English name, but the Swedish one, "mässingsglansvivel" translates into "brass sheen weevil".
