Ambush in Colour, Pt. 2 - _TNY_9208
I was shooting buttterflies in the oregano (Origanum vulgare) when I noticed this white little lady waiting to spring an ambush.
Since she was fairly small, I suspect she was more hoping for a bee or perhaps a hoverfly to come within her reach than a butterfly, but she still made for a good photo.
Part 1 here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/53906630954/
The species is called the goldenrod crab spider (Misumena vatia) and this is a female. The male is significantly smaller and coloured differently, like here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/50033851053/
Speaking of colour, the females can actually change colour given a day or two. From white like the lady here over to an intense yellow like here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/52643029278/
