Pseudo Night Photography - _TNY_7322
Whan shooting macro with a flash, quite often, the light from the flash hasn't got any backgroud close enough to bounce back on which creates this effect where the subject becomes completely isolated against a solid black background.
It looks like it was shot at night, but this was in the middle of the day, in the sun on a small bog next to lake Lilla skogssjön in the Svartkällsskogens nature reserve in Botkyrka, Sweden.
The subject climbing up the reed is a juvenile raft spider (Dolomedes fimbriatus), one of Sweden's largest spiders - though this youngster was a whole lot smaller.
