On a Flag, Pt. 2 - _TNY_6253
The male common blue damselfly (Enallagma cyathigerum) is as the name suggests blue (and common). The female however is white or grey - but what is this colour?
Well, this is actually a female a s well, but a teneral one, ie one that has just crawled out of the larval stage it has lived in underwater for a year or two. She will turn into her adult colours soon.
The way the flash blacked out the background, leaving omly the diagonal reed makes me think of some sort of flag.
